Learn to Play the Piano

Do you love listening to piano music? Would you like to be able to play a piece of your favourite piano music? Lots of people dream of playing their favourite music and just need a little to push to steer them in the right direction. 

First it is essential to know that there are two ways of playing a piano. These are Chords and Note reading.  It is a good to have an idea of what you would like to play. If you are happy enough with playing music other people have written then all you have to do is learn how to read the notes. However if you feel more creative and you would like to try writing your own music then you would need an understanding of chords.

Learning from a Teacher
Piano teachers are expensive if you have decided to learn piano with a piano teacher finding a qualified and reliable instructor is the key. When you are looking for an instructor, you will need to decide if you would like to play for fun. If this is the case, find a teacher who will teach you how to read sheet music. On the other hand if you feel more creative and would like to try making you own music then look for teacher who will teach you chords. It is essential you make this clear when speaking to a potential instructor otherwise you'll be wasting your money.

Learning online

Learning piano online is a lot cheaper than piano lessons and can be just as good. It can be a great benefit to learn online as you can do it in your own time and at your own pace without answering to anyone but yourself.

 I think the main disadvantage with learning online is that a person may lose their motivation to learn and not continue with their programme. With an instructor you have someone to encourage you and praise what you have done so far.

You can also learn how to play the piano online with piano learning DVDs and computer software designed to help.

Overall playing the piano should be something that is fun. Take your time learning and practice regularly until you have mastered each lesson. Don't give up especially if it is something that you have always longed to learn. There will be days when you get frustrated and want to quit...keep going and you will be able to play the piano as good as the next person and who knows you may even write you own music too.
